HE IS ETERNAL is a one-of-one wearable work painted by Melbourne artist Chris Marie in his Collingwood studio.

The original denim jacket has been worked directly by hand using layered acrylic, oil stick and expressive brushwork. The painting moves across the back panel, seams and sleeve, allowing the structure of the garment to become part of the composition.

Raw edges, exposed denim, heavy paint, uneven marks and changes in texture are deliberately retained as evidence of the painting process.

HE IS ETERNAL explores faith, permanence and the search for truth through the visual language of Chris Marie’s wider art practice.
