GODDESS GANGA
GODDESS GANGA takes the painting practice off the wall and onto the body.
The back of the purple hoodie becomes the primary canvas, with a large female figure emerging through layers of black, white and purple. Brush marks remain exposed across the fabric, allowing the original colour and construction of the garment to become part of the work rather than simply sitting underneath it.
Across the front pocket, repeated ARTIST AUTHORITY markings, symbols and fragmented typography create a second, quieter composition.
The piece has been worked individually by hand in the ARTFLAVA studio in Collingwood, Melbourne. Variations in paint density, brushwork, edges and surface marks are deliberately retained as evidence of the making process.
