FOREVA BASQUIAT
is a one-of-one wearable work by Chris Marie, created as part of the Artist Authority practice.
The back of the denim is treated as a painting surface rather than a space for a printed graphic. Layers of blue, green, black, white, yellow and red build an expressive central figure, while the handwritten FOREVA BASQUIAT marking moves across the upper structure of the jacket.
Brush marks, changes in paint density, exposed denim, raw edges and imperfections remain visible throughout the work. They aren’t effects reproduced by a printing process. They are physical traces of the painting itself.
The work explores influence, cultural memory and the way artists continue to exist through the generations they affect.
Each Artist Authority garment is individually worked by hand. Once this piece is sold, this exact work will not be reproduced.
